Designed for DBA Students in All Stages of the Research Journey
Liverpool, UK – 1 August, 2019
The DoctorateHub announced today that registration is open for the 2019 DBA Research Intense Residency. This annual event, now in its third year, convenes scholar-practitioners, business executives and data analysts to undertake training on how to tackle key issues that Doctoral students in Business Administration (DBA) face through the research process. The five-day, hands-on residency is an intense learning opportunity open to DBA students in all stages of the research journey. It will be held at the University of Liverpool in Liverpool, UK, and is scheduled from 9-13 September, 2019.
Andreas Meiszner, PhD, co-founder and Senior Partner of the DoctorateHub said: “This is an invaluable opportunity for doctoral students to present their research to academics, scholar-practitioners and peers. The purpose is to ensure that each student’s thesis research is on track and headed towards successful execution.” Meiszner continued: “We also offer participants the opportunity to schedule focused one-on-one training or discussion sessions. After residency, students are encouraged to send us a revised research workplan to maximize individual feedback and guidance. For participants that are nearing final submission we also offer Mock Viva.”
The DBA Research Intense Residency will take place at the University of Liverpool campus, bringing together academics, distinguished scholar-practitioners and business executives with diverse industry experience. Presenters include Dr. Meiszner who has successfully guided over 500 executives and professional doctoral students to resolve their work-based problem and Dr. Faria who will provide insights on conducting qualitative research. There will also be invited guest speakers from UK universities, including key representatives from the University of Liverpool Management School.
The program will cover a wide range of relevant thesis research and presentation issues that typically challenge doctoral students, including:
• The Thesis Journey
• Evaluating consistency between your Research Problem, Research Questions, Research Methods, and the actual research undertaken thus far
• Research Method and Methodology – how to ensure credibility and correct application
• Defending your Research Methods and Methodologies
• Literature Review – is it critical? And if not, how to turn it around?
• Practice-based Research and Action Research
• What is Actionable Knowledge and why it has nothing to do with “having a solution at hand”
• Data Collection and Presentation of Findings
• Data Interpretation/Analysis
• Presenting your Research: Is my Thesis Structure up to the standards? And if not, how do I get it there?
• Mock-Viva; Actionable Research Plan, Thesis Structure or Poster presentation
“The level of enthusiasm received from presenters and attendees for this annual residency is exciting,” said Jacqueline Hiddlestone, who is organizing the DBA Research Intense Residency now for the third time. She concluded: “In bringing together an intimate group of like-minded DBA students from across the globe to network and enhance research skills in a city with over 800 years of history, we’ll all return home enlightened with dozens of actionable takeaways and established networks.”
