The Viva is a make it or break it point. It is the ultimate hurdle between you and the finishing of your doctorate. Consequently, it is a recurrent theme at the DoctorateHub with the Mock Viva Service gaining in popularity over recent months.
What are examiners looking for?, How do I understand the motivations around their questions?, and What could be a ‘Plan B’ in case that things don’t go as expected? These are the types of questions all viva candidates have.
And while a Viva fail happens on occasion, it is more likely the type of feedback is a pass with either a minor or major revision. Depending on how the Viva went, a minor revision could take up the full 6 months allowed. Whereas a major revision could either correspond with another 6-month’s concerted work effort… or up to another 2 years of struggle (and potentially a slow, silent death of the doctorate journey).
Therefore, in this next webinar the DoctorateHub will look in detail on how to handle feedback in the Viva, and how to ensure this will be as smooth-running and joyful experience as possible. After all, it is the only time the focus will be on you and your expertise in your subject.
The webinar will be held on 16th March 2019 at 12.00pm GMT (UK) time. To register click here. Once registered, participants will be forwarded the webinar link to dial into.
